Manato/Alice/Yuzuha all fit very succinctly into anime highschooler archetypes wrapped up neatly in what is also a pretty common anime trope, an occult research club. By concept alone (forum members meeting up in person with the core group), Yidhari/Lucia are perfectly... and their personalities are good even. It's just their designs do not align with what is the original faction concept, Yidhari especially IMO. The idea of an agent coming out later than their original chapter isn't a problem so long as they fit correctly into where they're going. Lighter does and so he's fine, Jane does too and so she's fine, even Pulchra fits the SoC aesthetic despite not originally being SoC. They all also did not take a main story chapter for themselves in the process.

Also, the real nail in the coffin for the idea of them being taped on after the fact is: we already knew about CBT "Yidhari" (formerly called Lucia lol). Her basic design and animations are recycled 1:1, they just re-outfitted her to fit her new place in the story. It's why her HP-drain-berserker playstyle and provocative animations feel a little unfounded, it's why her octopus gimmick is delegated purely to special effects and not her animations. It's not that dissonant individually, but compared to how harmonious mihoyo's usual designs are, you can't help but immediately peg something as feeling off.
