That would be the case if "meaninglessness" was presented and understood as a null hypothesis which informed no aspect of reality but instead we are told time and again by nihilists it's a base property of the world.
It isn't just the approach a true agnostic takes to God, but intstead its presented as a positive aspect of reality rendering morality, religion and action itself unjustifyable based on the supposed absence of some unarticulated category.
If nihilism was just the null hypothesis it would not in any way shape or form inform any action or motivation of the person who subscribes to it because the absence of some meaningless, abstract, incoherent category would not (by definition) have any impact on the world or how view it as such
