Yeah, in a roundabout way, I actually think he had a far greater impact on music than on the literary establishment. Everyone from Bowie to the early punks to the industrial/synth pioneers to free jazz performers to U2 cited him as an influence. He's literally on the Sgt. Pepper's cover lol.
I think his theses on spontaneous writing and collage-based craftsmanship are inherently musical. I can really only think of Pynchon and Gibson as authors who carried some of WSB's literary impetus into the 'mainstream' novelistic establishment, but he remains mostly singular.
