Colbert's show was actually tanking in the ratings and was getting really low viewership until he decided to turn his show into "CONSTANT TRUMP JOKES TONIGHT".

The show became just constant Trump jokes and his ratings shot up from all the TDS (by which I mean Trump Derangement Syndrome but funny how that also ends up being an acronym for The Daily Show) viewers tuned in for their daily dose of Trump hate.

This did NOT change the fact that the show was still losing $40 million a year which makes it all the more stupid how all of Hollywood was making him out to be a martyr that got cancelled due to Trump when the reality is that Hollywood is supposed to be a business and he was LOSING money. And if anything Trump actually saved his career because without Trump jokes he probably would have been out of a job years ago.
