When I say "better than its clones"
I mean that pretty much every Versus Clone made by USA people is trying to "evolve the genre" in very bad and unfun ways, have worse movement, slower frame data, uglier art, and/or are just very derivative in a way that is not actually clever or interesting.

For lack of a better comparison, it's like MD Geist versus some random Netflix slop.

Yeah, it's not what I'd call a good OVA, especially compared to what else was coming out at the time. It's no Arslan Senki or Ginga Eiyuu Densestsu. But compared to whatever slop "parody" it gets from some abridged series watching reddit atheist tumblrina tranny cuck brain rotted zoomer that skimmed a wiki and went to calarts, thus assuming they were now an expert on animation, writing, subversion, and comedy? e.g. YouTube/Netflix slop? Yeah, MD Geist is gold by that standard.

Just look at MD Geist, compare it to some crap like DMC Netflix or pretty please I don't want to be a magical girl and tell me that MD Geist is the worst thing you've ever seen.

The nbc2 imitators are like that. Just spouting memes and copying concepts without any real thought, then making a game that no one wants to play. The typical American versus game approach. Trying to make a beginner version of a game that is inherently unfriendly with teams. Power rangers, skullgirls, and all the other imitators. It's like trying to slow down jazz or pushing for training wheels in bmx. It's just not going to work!


But like I said, not better than it's contemporaries. I prefer things like kof98 and vampire savior to it.
