The Sampson option refers to Israel's own nuclear arsenal, theorized and generally hinted at as a final fuck you to any state that tries to wipe them off the map. It's an allusion to the Old Testament story of Sampson, in the Book of Judges. Sampson was a champion of God, who killed Philistines like most people mow grass. However, he had absolutely terrible taste in women, and after one of the (Delilah) betrayed him, he was captured, blinded, and put on display by the Philistines he had tormented. During one of their festivals, he calls on God to give him his superhuman strength one last time, and God answers the prayer. Sampson proceeds to literally bring the house down, killing everyone in their temple, including himself.
