I disagree with him not taking Will seriously. Why would he call Will his nemesis then and be so focused in the end on him. He even extends his hand to him and says "I can lend you my power". You are overthinking honestly. Louis is very straight forward and more than simple in his approach. He says something and he does it without much scheming. He isn't even arrogant, he just knows that he is strong but he never denies the possibility that he could lose. Sure at the end the melancholy drives him over the edge but at the opera I believed him when he said he wouldn't be fit if that killed him. Plus not outing Will and the party also fits with him not pre-judging people like they did with him with the curse. He even says it's a shame to kill the party at the opera but he can't overlook it anymore with that kind of confrontation. You see this from your own perspective which would plan and scheme more but Louis detests such things and wants to confront things more simply hence why his utopia is also way too unrealistic. He thinks an eqasy solution can solve a difficult issue since he failed before and was disappointed by the king. He wants results now and not something that is uncertain and long-term.
