I hate that they ditched one of my favorite characters. It almost felt like she was starting to become an occasional secondary member of the group. I can see why they did though, lots of people assume ANY kind of female anime character = underaged, and were probably worried about getting complaints eventually. Doesn't help that when she finally does return after a 5 year absence they gave her an entirely different appearance as Sadako.
