First of all, Clem is great. Second, a lot of people hate it especially after season 8, but I have just started season 8 on my first watch of the show, and its been really fun, so I hope it doesn't drastically change, but that's what I'm expecting for people to switch up on it so hard

the first 6 episodes, yeah. Then things get so different from the book that it's like "wtf am I even watching? people talking sadly, tensely, nervously, angrily, slowly, quickly, and then other people talking, talking talking talking, blah blah blah. " Then you're just watching it for Daryl Dixon who wasn't even in the book, but he's the only interesting character. It's just so dull.

The first season with Frank Darabont as the one in charge was really good
Then they fired the showrunner and spent a season jerking off on a fucking farm trying to get a zombie out of a well without killing him to prevent him from fouling the water, like having a fucking walking bloated corpse shitting and pissing and bleeding in the water for weeks wouldnt ruin it

Stupid shit like that compounds in on its self and you can tell the writers just spun their wheels filling out episodes
