I'm gay and my boyfriend doesn't even like muscle; he says he'll issue a warning if I'm getting too big. If anything I have negative incentive to lift but I do it anyway.
OTO if women desire me and wish to hijack my energies and I instead channel them into worlds they can never enter, that makes my inner misogynist (every gay man has one) smile just a bit.

Lifting acccording to the seasons
Spring: high reps low weight/body weight, focusing on muscular endurance and cardio. It is time for preparing to grow and flourish (increased cappilary density). Lose weight
Summer: low rep high weight, focus on strength. In many ways this is the time of peaking, so peak in strength, food, socially.
Autumn: medium reps, medium weight, basically hypertrophy training. Ride on the wave of the peak of summer, but be aware that you should prepare for winter, storing energy mentally and physically (essentially bulking but not extreme)
Winter: isometrics and postures. Winter is a time of stillness and enduring, training should reflect that. Isometric holds for time, slower types of movement and perhaps perfecting technique of your lifts.
I had this realisation not too long ago, but everything in nature follow this rythm, why should we humans fight against that?
