>Do game devs think the average gamer is stupid?
You ARE stupid, stupid.
look at picrel. How many "subtle hints" did this scene even need? its a linear hallway with no actual player options to change the way you will proceed.
They STILL needed the UI arrow for the item that god forbid you miss, even with the light clearly highlighting the area. They still needed a massive arrow as if it were a youtube thumbnail. Why?
the average gamer is a fucking retard and the 'subtle' guidance of the past is no longer working. See the cuphead tutorial guy.

wrong, DSP is unironically better at games than the majority of /v/ and the zoomer race. Hes a retard and is pretty dumb but he has beaten more games than /v/ has even touched. You didnt fall for his acting, did you?
This is actually down to media journalists who want to use games media to make money but theyre total fucking tourists who know nothing about games and didnt grow up playing them, unaware of the 'subtle' tricks like lighting guiding them, theyre the ones needing UI pointing out to them, theyre the ones who need a map, theyre the ones failing every playtest behind closed doors.
someones bound to post that one picture/video of the devs explaining how bad the average play tester is at figuring out the basic, most obvious things. Yes, they needed the ladder painting yellow.
