Ukraine has brought back 84 people — 33 service members and 51 civilians. Among them are prisoners from 2014, 2016, and 2017, including defenders of Mariupol.
Today’s exchange is notable for freeing Ukrainians detained in occupied territories even before the full-scale invasion. One man spent 4,013 days in captivity, having been taken in Donetsk in 2014.
Those freed include three women from Donetsk and Luhansk regions — one a primary school teacher imprisoned in 2019 — and a 27-year-old man illegally detained in 2016 at just 18 years old.
