The Northern Continent had an actual name. Knowlespole. It wasn't fucking "Icicle Area." Shinra changed the name when they took control of the continent. For that matter Elmyra had no idea what Aerith was talking about when she told her that her husband had returned to the Planet. Maybe she would if she knew what "Lifestream" was. But she doesn't because everyone under Shinra calls it "Mako." So the common person doesn't know that they're burning grandma's lived experiences and memories to keep the lights on.
