>What is Brief’s purpose
1. Audience insert into the world, the “literally me” that can hang with all the angels, and can ask questions for exposition if necessary.
2. A gag magnet, used to be the butt of jokes and cause tomfoolery with his infatuations.
3. Panty’s hype man, as the least conventional anime female in the show, he performs a very important task of hyping her up, hinting at the side underneath. His yearning becomes our yearning.
He’s an essential character, and the show is better having him in it. There was a reason Panty + Brief was one of the first episodes conceptualized for this show. He helps give the series heart and humor.
