My comfort game is Aliens

>Play this game hundreds of times on MAME
>One day I set up a retropie, first game I'm gonna play is Aliens, of course
>Immediately can tell that the sound is faster than usual, think that the game is running too fast and try to find a fix
>Turns out that the older version of MAME I used to use didn't emulate the sound properly and the faster music is actually more accurate to real hardware
>Shrug and figure I'll get used to it, but now I always notice every MP3 I hear from this game was recorded from the older, slower MAME version


>Years later buy the actual board and it turns out the music is even FASTER

I love this game but very hard mode is a real bitch, no pun intended
