Kojimbo spent 70% of the budget and time working on the first hour of the game. Then to justify a full price tag, he created a meme character and a sterile scenario just to waste 3 or 4 hours of gameplay

He repeated this process in MGSV when he wasted all the budget in the engine and dialogue and could only deliver MGS Ground Zero, a 30 minute tech demo. Upset by this, Konami locked him in the office for 12 months so he could finish the game, which was in the works for 5 years

That is why MGSV is so fucking unfinished, like MGS2
Kojima use most of the budget to pay for his travels, expensive food and movies, also he buy big houses in japan I suppose

He used Death Stranding budget to get close to hollywood shitheads
The guy basically bankrupt Konami and he would do the same thing to Sony if Sony allowed him to use unlimited budget

This really should’ve been the best game of all time if Kojima wanted it to be. Instead he chose to subvert expectation.
