Willing to bet it turns out that Kris is either being blackmailed, possessed by something other than the soul or both. Susie's gonna see him break down and dump exposition and say "Bullshit", then there's gonna be a fight in the rain that echoes the one with Lancer in prison, but now Kris is the one getting the shit beat out of him. Eventually Susie just walks away but then returns and pic related happens.
