"I could give it a try... But on ALL of them? Working away one by one? That's going to take a long time. They've killed tons of my friends, Marnie. I can't trust them to all just hold still while we do that delicate work."
"They're the enemy, and they're better off with her out of the picture." Wind says. "They'd jump at the chance to take out our Cracker."
As much as you hate it, you see their point.
"And if we go down that route, we'll be martialed when we return to The Tower. Sitting here and allowing you to deactivate all our unique protocols is an act of mutiny."
"Then do it, mutiny sounds fine to me." You say.
The badly wounded Hi-Commandramon twitches, while your own acquaintance stares blankly at you.
"That isn't an option either. We'll be hunted down if we abandon our duties. It's unheard of."
"That's the only way you can get out of here alive. How about just you? These chumps-"
He tightens his grip on the grenade launcher, letting out a growl of warning.
"Don't insult me, Astamon. Do you take me for a rat? A blackguard who would abandon all of the Digimon entrusted to him? Is that the sort of person you would parley with?"
"... No. Just spitballing, sorry."
"You see?" Wind says, as Kaus Gammamon finally manages to find his footing without assistance. "The more time you give them to scheme, the more danger we're in. Just look at what they've done!"
He waves a hand towards the podded people in emphasis. You try your best to ignore him and change the topic.
"How do you open those up, Hi-Commandramon?"
"I'm not sure. We don't have a key, they're never meant to be opened in the field. The bots are supposed to just drag them off to The Tower."
"Never had access to one. I'll take a look later," Squid says. "Once I get back to my workshop."
"Oh. How about we send them through the Network?" You suggest.
"That could work." ToyAgumon says.
"It might. But it's not foolproof. Once they're in there, they'll know what endpoint our network link has. I've encrypted it so strongly that we can barely fit anything through, and nothing can come in. I'll have to disable it all to let them head inside. And even if we can stop them from scanning their cyberspace coordinates, there's a chance they could recognise the area physically."
"But it's an indistinct mess in there! How could they ever find it again? It's like looking for a single grain of sand." You say.
"You're right. But there's a chance. Do you REALLY trust them?"
"He's not all bad. If he says he won't do anything shifty, yes. I trust this Hi-Commandramon."
"That's just it, Astamon, Marnie- we don't." Squid says, unable to meet your gaze as always. "We can't just take your word for it. They came here to kill us. To kill you!"
