Strange false memories from childhood.
I'm up way past my bedtime doing some cleaning and listening to midnight broadcast and figured why not make a thread on my own for a change. While I don't have many complete stories (where I live is so weird I am sure it will only take a few more years for me to have enough stories to properly fill a thread about high strangeness) I figured we could discuss strange memories from childhood.
> be me
> be rather young, maybe 6 or 7
> have a fascination with everything related to space travel and astronauts
> dad has a massive 20+ volume collection of the entire history of aviation and space flight
> dad begins explaining the things I am reading and the lore behind the original moon missions
> dad was old enough to be aware and remember seeing the first man on the moon and all of the subsequent missions
> distinctly remember a mission where one of the astronauts died in a very abrupt but seemingly non-violent manner
> crew is forced to bury him on the moon for an unknown reason
> remember seeing a distinct image of where he was buried and how the grave looked
> do research when I am older
> find Eugene Shoemaker
> supposedly the only man "buried" on the moon
> not an astronaut and not "buried"
> find no evidence that this ever happened
> wtf
> have yet to check the books again but I am quite sure my dad still has them
