I'll be the devil's advocate. Watkins never actually raped anyone. Did he deserve prison? Absolutely. Did he deserve death? No. He was doing his time, he wasn't harming anyone, and his murder is a clear failure of the justice system. It's also mind-boggling that the worst child killers in history, Luis Garavito and Pedro Lopez, were successfully protected in prison, but Watkins, who never even raped anyone (although he had sick fantasies on which he was willing to act upon and, like I said, deserved prison), wasn't protected. I rest my case.
