I assume you're trying to go for AkiTen? You'll need a lot of luck to win a seating ticket on GI day. I usually apply for seating ticket first, then the general admission once I fail to get the seating ticket.
It doesn't really matter either way, though; You can usually get a good enough spot near the goal for the main race if you start looking around at the start of the 10th race since a lot of people will rush to the paddock or to get their payout. Just remember that the standing area is a sort of slope, so your view might actually be worse the closer you get to the course.
