We start with pointing and drawing images of animals that we need to hunt and kill to develop a plan of some sort
Or food and supplies that we need to divide up between us evenly without anyone getting killed over it (Who gets which share is another calculation entirely)

So we need more than simple images and pointing
We need grunts

We have a total of 7 different grunt tones, or numbers in our base Radix system
BUT we can also sneak in an empty location like is used in Morse Dot Dash Space
And call it our zero or decimal or whatever extra divider of the night from the day
And turn it into a Base 8 system
Every part you add to the system, number, divider, still counts as a new exponential complication
