Adding to your points, though I am not as well researched as you, just making observations.
> Why did Nick tell everyone to storm the capital?
He was a 20 something firebrand thinking he's about to witness a revolution. I'm not saying he should have done it, but I can understand it if he did. If you've ever been to a protest you'll understand that energy can be high.
> Why wasn't he charged?
People can avoid charges for a 100 reasons, mostly having to do with not being at the wrong place at the wrong time. I've been in protest situations that got hot and I was never charged. It's not because I cut a deal with the feds. It's because I walked away early. If Nick walked away early he missed being arrested and charged. Lots of people at J6, the vast majority, were not arrested or charged with anything.
> Why did he get access to his money?
Because they had no right to keep his money. It makes sense for the feds to hold it a while as they figure out why a prominent J6 figure got paid by a shadowy international unknown. Once the facts came to light, which proved it was just some suicidal groyper, the money was his.
