You shouldn't be waiting for a release date.
Yes, ES6 is real; it is in active production. This is public information, it transitioned from pre-production like two years ago. But the wait is not because of the scale of the game, or internal issues, or because of Starfield, or whatever. It's very, very simply.
>Bethesda finally reaches "uh oh" territory financially
>Hey guys...Elder Scrolls 6!
Similarly to the Oblivion Remaster, its a project they've had ready for ages which gets the go ahead to start preparing for an actual release date once things get dicey. Oblivion Remastered came and went like a fart in the wind-but also massively improved Bethesda's situation, and reputation (for most people-remember, if you meet them with mistrust and cynicism immediately you are in the correct but firm minority).
It won't come anytime soon. They make money off most of their existing "new" games. They are saving it for a rainy day. It's as simple as that.
And you'll be playing it on day 1. You know it. I know it. Most importantly, Bethesda knows it.
