I tried this, but couldn't bring myself to make it literally invulnerable. So instead of running away, seeking out the power source for its shielding, and then coming back to blow it up, my players insisted on a desperate slog of a fight to chip away at its weakest (but still tough!) spot. I thought maybe I'd let my autism lure me into making it too reasonable a threat.
And then the same thing happened in a more narrative, non-mecha RPG being run by someone else, lol. Sometimes players just refuse to turn tail and enjoy the chase.
