The Sikh religion is an offshoot of Hinduism, formed because in the early 1500s, muslim invaders from India's northwest areas (modern day Afghanistan, pakistan) used to come in, rape the Hindu women, kill the men, butcher cows, steal artefacts from ancient Hindu temples and vandalize/destroy them - AKA terrorize the local populace so that they are forced into accepting isl*m.

A group of brave men in that region formed jatthas and misls (militant factions) in order to gang up, learn to fight, train, and they gradually developed their own ideology that mandated that they live according to a set of rules - wear a turban, never cut their hair, always carry a kirpan knife, defend the honor of women, etc. they called themselves the Sikhs - the learned ones.
All us Indians have utmost respect for the Sikhs and their gurus. Their gurus are our gurus. It's because of the bravery of Sikh men that India's modern day region of Punjab, Jammu, Himachal and other north Western areas aren't islamoshit
