Jeanne's role is vanguard protector, so you can run her with underleveled or weak ships. Take your pick. Probably Le Hardi and one of the new purple ships until they catch up a bit.

The other fleet gets Saint Louis (but you need to buy blueprints for her), Le Temeraire (the okayest of your purples), and anybody else. Don't feel bad about running two French and one non-French in each fleet.
