When Catty’s dad called Asriel a “big shot” that stupid cat heard it. Which doesn’t help when Catty and Bratty are girls Mike wanted that Asriel easily took instead.

Aside from his jealously of Asriel, he is jealous of Gaster and wants to take Gaster’s place as the angel. Hence why Dess, Spamton, and Noelle are pushed by Mike to become angels. He’s a deranged bastard.

Aside from that, he doesn’t work alone in being that weird entity. Eram/ICE-E and the Everyman serve him and await him, which is why they were both involved with Michael in chapters 1-4. Pizzarina is an ICE-E jpeg. Eram/ICE-E shows up in chapter 3 and can call up Michael (friend form) to gang up on you at any time, since she is his queen of Hell.
The Everyman had the tray of Michael shaped cookies in his hands in QC’s Diner, since he knew that Nice Cream would deliver them to Michael.
