Yeah, he didn't hurt anybody, except Sanji. And they lived very shit lives, literally fighting for survival in a crew that treats them like garbage, hardly "living a good life off suffering". If you want to point fingers at characters that should've been beyond redemption, look at Kid who we saw literally crucified some poor motherfuckers just because he felt like it, yet the story hails him as some variant of deuteragonist.
