Similar story here. I bought a bunch (40+) of Noctua fans in late 2013/early 2014 when a local store was going out of business and have never regretted it. Even bought more a few years ago for builds for the kids.

Maybe they aren't as quiet as brand new fans or newer models, but none of them have had any issues except for the one that the new puppy turned into a chew toy 4 or 5 years ago, and lets be honest, that ain't the fan's fault. I've got 7 NH-D15s in the house in various systems for myself and the wife/kids. The Deepcool assassin III performed better, but Deepcool played games and Uncle Sam got mad at them. I have one. I prefer mounting the D15s, and one of the fans on mine started squeaking after a couple of years. Irrelevant performance differences vs ease of installation and something that keeps working.... not a hard choice.

I don't give a fuck if Noctua's overpriced relative to the performance. Shit just works. None of the Noctua fans I have have failed, and there's ~25 of them in computers, switches, etc, that run 24/7. I like technology, but I don't want to have to spend time dealing with stupid shit because a fan mounted horizontally in the base of a case started squeaking after 2 or 3 years. Damn near every non-noctua fan I've bought that isn't some jet engine industrial monstrosity in my basement network closet has failed. So fuck it. I'll pay the poo tax and not give a shit, just the same as I buy Seasonic plat/titanium PSUs.

By compressed air do you mean cans or do you mean an actual air compressor, because holding the fan in place and giving it a shot with a blow gun at 120 psi will knock off anything that isn't glued on. If that's happening, stop smoking and keep your room clean. Only use cases that have easily removable and washable filters and clean them semi regularly.

Alternatively, buy a case without a glass panel and don't give a fuck about a bit of dust.
