It came out too soon and didnt feel like much of an upgrade compared to the last game. When MK11 was revealed, it was a massive graphical improvement from MKX and the character designs looked awesome aside from Scarlet. The story also looked super interesting when they were still baiting everyone with a Dark Raiden story of him going berserk on the other realms. Not only did MK1 not look any better graphically but all of the character designs were super bland in comparison.

The game also got concorded with its own beta, I remember everyone saying that it played just like MK11 which was slow and clunky. They really should have made another Injustice first or something else, because everyone has fatigue of Mortal Kombat and its hyper gore
