Imagine being from such a country with a culture that is thousands of years old, one of the oldest on Earth, but it has been run into the ground by millennia of subhumans unable to improve their living conditions, and the biggest flex is that you managed to worm your way into the country of a race that is far more accomplished and advanced than you will ever be, a race that had surpassed you in a way that makes them seem utterly alien, almost godlike in their level of technology that they have created versus what your people have created on their own, and they’ve done this over the course of mere centuries.

India is very much like a real life version of the sci-fi “uplifted species” trope where an alien race, either through leaving behind discarded technology or through deliberate intent either out of benevolence or for some perceived personal gain, have as a consequence propelled a primitive race centuries ahead technologically. And in many cases, the unintended consequence of uplifting the primitive race is the downfall of the race that had uplifted them.
