EMI basically does everything JEI does but tends to be a bit faster and has the ability to display and bookmark entire recipe trees, displaying total requirements for you that automatically calculates any amount you want to craft
EMI can also be loaded alongside JEI and its addons, and in this instance will take on all the expected addon behavior but keep the original EMI interface and speed, while suppressing JEI from actually loading so your RAM and CPU aren't impacted at all
