Battle of Maeso

After suffering consecutive defeats against the Tang dynasty, Silla turned everything around in a single battle. In this battle, 200,000 Tang troops were decisively defeated by 30,000 Silla soldiers, causing Tang influence in the Korean Peninsula to collapse. Afterward, the Tang began withdrawing, and the war ended with Silla’s victory at the Battle of Gibeolpo (modern-day Seocheon County, Chungcheongnam-do), the final battle of the Silla-Tang War. Had Silla lost at Maeso, we might be speaking Chinese today.
