here's a similar and related book
understanding media by marshall mcluhan. this is the best of mcluhans books who is most famous for 'the medium is the message' which means that the tools we use, or the mediums of info (like the tv, the newspaper etc) are far more important than the actual content of the mediums themselves. that each medium of exchange, like the internet, the tv etc, has a teleogy, a mind independent from human will, a logic which controls us rather than we contrlling it. our tools shape us more than we shape them. it's a nice book for thinking about the things we interact with constantly in a way we dont normally think about them.
