Zanka never does anything, but in fairness...no one in the manga really do. I wish we'd go back to the era of a group of villains equal in number (give or take 2) to the heroes would show up, everyone would split up for one reason or another, and then we'd get 2-3 volumes of pure 1vs1 fights. Those were the days. Nowadays mangaka are obsessed with subverting this formula even though it printed more classics that Gutenberg, and every arc is made of misdirections, fakeouts, and big combo fights where both sides duke it out all at once. Yeah they're cool sometimes. But every arc? It's so much less interesting than the alternative where you could really get into the mood of a particular character and see their growth.

No it's shit because Soul Eater was already based on our world, the added meta-narrative is pointless because SE works just fine without it, everything that ties the two manga is basically just whatshisname from FF using his godlike powers at the very end of the manga so it changes absolutely nothing to the story, aaaand it even kinda contradicts SE because Death, Excalibur, Eibon, the Black Mass and the Kishin himself were called Great Old Ones which is obviously a Cthulhu Mythos reference and having them be created by a teen like 1000 years before the story is infinitely less interesting and the name makes no sense now. But hey, even if all of this is just my biased opinion, Soul Eater remains infinitely more popular than Fire Force years after it ended, while the latter lies forgotten whenever a new season isn't airing, so it just feels like Ohkubo was tying his more popular work to his less good one to try to prop it up at the end, which was pointless.
