Part 4 of ideas to crack down on both legal and illegal immigration:
17. Back to Labor for a moment since employment is a major concern: These guys have some broad authority not only over the workplace, but also over welfare benefits. Again, as part of all-of-government response, we need to crack down on foreigners using DoL welfare programs as well as other welfare programs such as those under USDA. However, it doesn't stop there. DoL also trains workers, compiles labor statistics, addresses backpay and worker treatment complaints, etc. Restricting federal contractors from hiring aliens is also a good way to restrict immigration via DoL.
18. Back to War for a moment since I forgot, they also have some pretty substantial civil regulation powers. For example, DoW/DoD controls much of the Gulf Coast (especially Louisiana) through the Army Corps of Engineers and establishes regulations for public safety purposes. It would be reasonable for them to prohibit immigrant settlement in vast swaths of the USA where Americans might flood if someone who doesn't understand local laws and customs were to make a mistake.
19. Transportation also has substantial powers regulating a vast many businesses and regulating transportation workers. By restricting immigration for various reasons in each industry under its purview--from pipelines to highways to railways to sealanes to airlines and everything within and between them--we can crack down on immigration substantially. For example, DOT could require TWICs much more broadly while DHS could easily issue further regulations preventing issuance of TWICs to H1Bs and other immigrants.
20. Basically every department and indie agency from the VA to Justice has extra attorneys who can be lent to help DHS in the deportation effort. We need to use them to tackle our most urgent priority, even if it means a slight delay elsewhere.
21. Where do I even start with HHS? Ban foreign health workers.
