The new Abstract Daddy is a good example of my problem with the remake. It shows that Bloober can do a good job conceptualizing and executing an idea that pays homage to the simpler version of it from the original but they fuck it up when it comes to the subtler details. When you're done running the exposition trauma gauntlet (it's cool but so heavy handed) that is chock full of imagery symbolic of penetration with all of the piston and mechanical hardware you end up in the final room where you fight AB and it has the meaty piston holes from the original game on the walls, but they're static. There's no piston movement in the holes the way the original had it, which was the whole point of the imagery of them.
It's the perfect crystalization of why Bloober Team is Blooper Team. I don't hate the SH2 remake but I feel like despite it having all of the ingredients to be a perfect remake theres all of these minor things that show they got overwhelmed by being in the director's seat and strayed too far off the path wanting to realize their own ideas while they either forgot a lot of the things in SH2 that people have held on to for all these years or they didn't think they were important enough to do right.
