Playing the original Tibia as a teenager on dial up, I learned basic Portuguese and Polish phrases so they wouldn't just kill me right away. I could stall them for a little while before they figured it out. I used to play on the PvP with no guild. My "guild" was just my school friends and other randos I knew on MSN messenger trying not to get player killed.

It was truly a golden age. Now everything is on "guard rails", it's like bicycles with stabilisers, not as fun as it could be.
