I really cannot wrap my head around how foids managed to be tricked into thinking labor is freeing while leisure is enslaving. Nobody would say that it is the peasant who oppresses his lord by depriving him of labor, but this is the logic used to affirm that husbands oppressed their wives in the 20th century.
And I note here that women at large were only freed of labor in the 20th century, as any cursory glance of history will show you that poor women, who in pre-industrial and early industrial societies constituted the vast majority of women, always had to work. It was only in the 20th century that the incredible prosperity of Western society allowed for a large fraction of women to enjoy leisure.
Since then, of course, the material conditions of the Western population have rapidly declined, with a sustained loss of buying power, stagnation of wages, and rise in the cost of living. Notice that concurrent to this decrease in the quality of life was the (re-)entering of women in the workforce.
Now ask yourself, cui bono? Is it women who benefit by working, or is it the same group of neoliberal overlords who benefit from the enserfication of the masses?
