I don't think Communism is trying to change human psychology. Communism's goal is to eliminate exploitation on a mass, top-down scale. This isn't reinventing the wheel, it's ensuring the wheel is used to benefit humanity and not being kept and monopolized by a single individual. People will continue living their lives under Communism, businesses will continue existing, workers will continue producing goods. The point is that you get more out of your own labor by eliminating the bourgeois and speculators that steal your labor while contributing nothing.
