because they're terminally online and ignorant, they saw the red plume and thought "omg conquistadores"
in reality the sets are a mix of Italian, German, and Ottoman influences. the artists put in the work doing research to make something cool with a blend of different cultures from the Renaissance, but instead of getting credit for it, their work was attacked by imbeciles on social media (though it doesn't help that CS3 was greedy again and made them undyeable)
