lack of decent jobs obviously. When I was 20-23, I could go pick up a job that paid $30-40 an hour painting, carpentry, any kind of speciality house or furniture decorative / speciality paint coat work.
Now there seem to be no labor jobs or factory jobs or any jobs except McDonalds / WalMart etc.. where they pay you 12-14 an hour depending on where you live.
University degrees don't matter. They dont teach you anything useful there, and even if they did, they rather get an H1B Visa to come do it for 2/3rds the price.
Even me, with lots of experience ... I have a damn hard time finding a good job in IT that pays very well. The turnover rate is massive, and demand back breaking , die hard loyalty while they can axe you with no notice or severance or anything.
I wouldn't mind working super hard, if it meant long term stability, 401k, retirement, a house etc... but killing myself so I can be miserable? Fuck that.
I think most people rather just get on welfare / disability and exit society without having to actually kill themselves. The suicide rate has gone though the roof since 2022.
