Fire and maneuver against other live people without killing them. They work nicely at intermediate distances in terrain that is tight enough to facilitate maneuver.

Get an A2 birdcage, a USGI BFA and some surplus m200 blanks for a low price. Setup a robust safety TTP and get after it

Blankfire is an excellent way to test techniques and procedures. Skill wise you have very little ability to grade concrete skills on individuals due to the fluid nature of it. Thus individual tasks will be mostly a self graded reflection and less a concrete like live fire or sims.
