With a frown, Zachariah asks; “What are you gonna do?”, his arms outstretch for Helias. A quiet promise of comfort, no words needed. “Try again later on or…?”
The ginger groans before unceremoniously throwing himself in his friend's embrace. As he lays un-moving, save for his breathing, Zachariah idly pats his back.

Nearing what might be the 10 minute mark, the farm boy speaks again.

“Our parents want to try a new "first" date. A second chance, of sort.” He burrows further. “I don’t know if we should.”

It's the rightful thing to do, and yet why does it hurt him so much?

It's important to note that Zach isn't necessarily being malicious intentionally. Is he contributing to a messier situation than it needs to be? Perhaps.
