Back to demons and whatnot, there would be evil entities that pre-existed, and ones that were born on Earth (and other alien worlds for that matter).
>Chthon is the personification of the Earth's magic, and is extremely old and powerful, the most powerful magic god of sorts
>wrote the Darkhold which contained all sorts of magics in it, good and bad, and let it loose
>over the ages it's used and misused, sometimes leading to mages, sometimes leading to horrors, and so on
>magicians start appearing and they write their own spells and books and so on
Sidenote: Magic here would basically be the source code to the universe. If you do the rituals right and have the belief and so on, or just if a god fancies you, it works. It's not "magic is just science" but it's not unexplained either. There are people more predisposed to talent, but technically anyone can do it. It's just that like with science or art you can pick up a pencil and starting solving/drawing, if you're not smart enough, you won't actually do much whereas some other guy just speeds through it.
>magic is connected to the gods, the primordial entities, as they all exist on higher planes
The Celestial connection is more vague. There wouldn't be a "magic gene" left by Celestials in there, it'd just be the way the universe works, more focused on higher planes and consciousness and all that.
>the mantle of the Sorcerer Supreme exists on every Earth with a magic community
Some planets would go full technocracy and abandon magic, so their gods would die, magic would die, and so on.
>there is the mantle of the Sorcerer Supreme of the Universe, but it's thought to be a myth
Basically it'd be a wild goose chase. Every time Strange or whoever would find THE planet where the contest is taking place, it'd be a ruse and a case of
>congrats, you're now SS of Earth and Hala and Kevlaron and Trundar and [...]; keep trying
So there are SSs all over and they all have their techniques, etc.
