I've worked with brand new CNC lathes 60 year old Cincinnatis, giga Werner swasey, sharpes 1340 VS, 50 year old Harrison lathe, etc etc. Most metalworking lathes run that gamut from soft steels and aluminums to hard tool steels and carbide and sometimes diamond roughing and cutting tools for incredibly hard materials. You don't need anything special from a lathe besides being primarily for metalworking and having the rpm range, and subsequent HP it needs. But again this is not a very high bar, that is
