Four Horsemen had their first test shot sale of two yesterday. Basically they are supposed to as it sounds, the first run of a figure in a mold to test it out to see if adjustments need to be made. They’re made cheaply and typically use left over plastic or whatever is in the machine. Using the one color helps see issues with joints and clearances. Here’s a pic of a Chief Carnivus I had got from a He-Man.org member but I’ve since sold it. The back of his cape had marker writing on there with the item number. Typically depending on team and line size they might make 4-7 maybe 10.
These feel like they manufactured to just sell to the fanbase. When they sold them originally they might have been really test shots. They claimed they had them piling up from production and new stuff coming in. You mean to tell me all the guys that work there didn’t want to take them home? These feel like hey let’s make some money. Run 25 or more of each mold in plain gray and we’ll charge double the price for them. They’ll sell them later on for $500-$800. The newer ones they have actually come in normal packaging. I know they can run whatever they want. One of the Glyos makers made a fan club and the selling point to join was you get a test shot of a new figure. I asked the guy if it was limited to just maybe the first few who sign up but he said no, every member will get one. He just needs them to run 42 extras when they do the test shot to cover the paid members. It turned out to be a MUSCLE Things flesh color Zeroid that was due to some of the makers using that color for a run of figures.
If maybe the 3 Neckbeards called this a test shot color run maybe it would be alright but they’re saying they are really test shots and having them not sell out instantly feels disingenuous.
