Faust knows that humans reproduce by putting their hands in direct contact with each other. The female involved in this process undergoes a bizarre metamorphosis that causes the swelling of her stomach and breast tissue. Their size grows as the stork delivering the child approaches the pair. Weight gain is a known side effect and may persist after the child is delivered. Beyond that, the female's body mostly reverts to its state prior to making a pact with the bird.
Some believe that humans in the Outskirts employ a different method of reproduction, growing cabbages that contain children within. This method is supposedly cheaper and more reliable as the many dangers lurking beyond the City hinder a stork's travels, but Faust sees no reason to believe such absurd rumours in the first place.
Please refrain from touching another person's hand without proper protection. Breaking a pact with the stork is an arduous task.
