What i dont get about them is claiming that these kinds of mechs are more "realistic". When the word they are looking for is feasible. It would be "feasible" for us to build battletech mechs if we poured unimaginable resources into it. But there would be no point to it. Anything they could do a tank would do better.

Gundams and AC on the other hand could not be replaced by tanks as they are essentially Jets, tanks and infantry all rolled into one. Well atleast AC dont know too much about gundams desu. So while building an AC is ofc alot less feasible, there would actually be a point to it. So ironically they are alot more realistic.
